Alfred Griffin, President

Alfred Griffin - NY Green Bank PresidentAlfred Griffin is an industry leader in developing innovative solutions in support of the financing of renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects, and brings 25 years of experience in banking and finance to NY Green Bank. As President, Mr. Griffin oversees partnerships with private sector capital providers and other clean energy market participants to address barriers that limit private investment into attractive renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Griffin specialized in structured finance with roles in corporate and investment banking, capital markets, and risk management at Citigroup Global Markets Inc. His roles included Alternative Energy Banking, where Mr. Griffin was responsible for the design, marketing, and execution of structured solutions within the evolving market segment. He was involved with a variety of innovative transactions including energy efficiency loan and lease securitizations, distributed solar portfolio financings, energy savings projects, and government-agency debt guarantee transactions.

At Citigroup, Mr. Griffin worked in Institutional Recovery Management, where he developed and implemented strategies for mitigating risk exposures to distressed companies and projects, and Global Structured Solutions, where he originated many structured transactions across a variety of industries and assets classes, many of which involved first-of-kind deal structures. Before joining Citigroup in 1997, Mr. Griffin held positions at Edward D. Jones & Co. and Smith Barney Inc.

Mr. Griffin holds bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and serves on the university’s Board of Visitors. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Caroline Angoorly, Chief Operating Officer & Managing Director

Caroline Angoorly - NY Green Bank Chief Operating OfficerCaroline Angoorly is a senior energy and environmental industry executive with more than 20 years of domestic and international experience in business building, strategy, operations, project and asset management, investment, project finance, and mergers and acquisitions. She knows the energy, resources and environmental sectors, especially power and fuels markets and projects across generating technologies and clean tech, as well as environmental instruments, markets, regulation, and policy, with particular expertise in project development and finance. As COO, Ms. Angoorly is responsible for all aspects of strategy, finance and operations, and supports investment activities.

Before joining NY Green Bank, Ms. Angoorly led GreenTao LLC, a specialized business growth, project development, financing, strategy and execution firm. She was also previously head of environmental markets for North America at J.P. Morgan, held several senior executive roles at NRG Energy including SVP & Head of Development, Northeast, was vice president and general counsel at EnelGreenPower, and a partner in the Global Project Finance Group at Milbank, Tweed. Through all these roles, Ms. Angoorly has been involved in originating, structuring, negotiating, closing and managing billions of dollars of energy and infrastructure projects across the globe.

Ms. Angoorly holds geology and law honors degrees from Monash University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Melbourne Business School in Australia (partly undertaken at Columbia University in New York). She has lived and worked in the United States, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. She has also done business in various countries in Central and South America, Asia, and Western Europe.

Peter Costello, Managing Director, Legal & Regulatory Affairs

Peter Costello - NY Green Bank CounselPeter Costello serves as counsel to NY Green Bank, providing legal advice and counsel with respect to operations, transactions, regulatory issues, and general corporate affairs. Mr. Costello also manages NY Green Bank’s relationships with several outside counsel firms.

Mr. Costello has worked in the Counsel’s Office at NYSERDA for five years, where he has focused on energy technology-related transactions as well as real estate development, leasing, and management. Prior to NYSERDA, Mr. Costello worked in a corporate and real estate transactional capacity at a number of private law firms, including LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, and its spin-off Lowe, Fell & Skogg, LLC, where he became a partner. In private practice, he focused on various corporate and real estate matters, including merger, acquisition and disposition; financing; land use and development; leasing; entity formation, management and operation; and technology transfer and software licensing. He also served as responsible outside counsel for one of the U.S.’s Big Three auto manufacturer’s regional real estate and corporate operations.

Mr. Costello holds a bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Canada and a juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law.


Brian Feit, Managing Director, Investment & Portfolio Management

Brian Feit, Managing Director, Investment & Portfolio ManagementBrian Feit is a Managing Director overseeing NY Green Bank’s Investment & Portfolio Management. In this role, he focuses on the execution of transactions across a wide range of industries and asset classes in the renewables and clean energy sectors. He has over twenty years of origination and restructuring experience across secured and structured finance, focusing on credit intensive transactions.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Feit was a Managing Director in the Risk & Restructuring Group at Ambac Assurance Corporation where he focused on remediating impaired transactions in structured, secured, and public finance as well as reinsurance activities. Prior to assuming these responsibilities, he originated domestic and international structured and secured finance transactions in New York, London, and Tokyo. These financings involved diverse asset classes and collateral including operating assets, commercial property, infrastructure, corporate securitizations, intellectual property, entertainment, and commercial and consumer receivables. Previously, Mr. Feit worked at JPMorgan Securities Inc. in domestic asset-backed finance and in Latin American debt capital markets specializing in future flow and structured corporate issuances. Prior to JPMorgan, he was employed by Societe Generale, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc. and Ernst & Young. Mr. Feit has a BS in accounting from Binghamton University and a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.

Brian Lee, Managing Director, Risk & Compliance

Brian Lee - NY Green Bank Managing DirectorBrian Lee is a senior finance executive with extensive experience in transaction structuring, business development and regulatory compliance. As Managing Director of Risk & Compliance, Mr. Lee is responsible for the day-to-day analysis and management of NY Green Bank’s key business risks (enterprise and investment) including related reporting and compliance across the organization and the investment portfolio. Among other responsibilities, together with the investment team, he evaluates and monitors the inherent risks in the investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with NY Green Bank’s business plan, investment strategy and risk appetite.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Lee held various senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group, North America. As Senior Vice President of Strategy & Performance, he was tasked to improve performance across key customer relationship and product areas. He led a team that proposed and received approval to build a debt capital markets business in North America, and he was instrumental to the planning, establishment and successful development of Lloyds’ new broker-dealer, Lloyds Securities Inc. He later served as its Chief Compliance Officer, leading a team responsible for all aspects of compliance.

Prior to joining Lloyds, Mr. Lee worked at Manresa Partners, a boutique investment advisory firm seeking principal investment opportunities. He also worked at Citigroup, designing and implementing structured transactions for its largest corporate clients. He was instrumental in proposing and developing a portfolio totaling $350 million of equity investments in renewable energy power projects.

Mr. Lee holds a Master of Business Administration degree from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.

Nicholas Whitcombe, Managing Director, Investment & Portfolio Management

Nicholas P. Whitcombe - NY Green Bank Managing DirectorNicholas Whitcombe oversees investments for NY Green Bank and has extensive experience in originating, structuring, underwriting, and syndicating corporate, leveraged, and project finance loans for a wide range of energy projects.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Whitcombe was a supervisory senior investment officer in the Loan Programs office at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) where he was instrumental in leading the negotiations for several nuclear loan guarantees, including more than $8.3 billion in commitments to finance the construction of the first nuclear power plant to be constructed in the U.S. in 30 years. He also led more than $1.0 billion in loan guarantees for distributed solar generation projects and served as program director for the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program. In addition, he worked with White House officials and DOE leadership to assist in achieving clean energy policy goals, including advocating loan guarantees to induce consumer demand and building out national energy infrastructure.

Prior to joining DOE, Mr. Whitcombe was vice president at Jefferies Group Inc., a global investment bank and institutional securities firm headquartered in New York City, where he evaluated lending opportunities in the energy sector and expanded the firm’s product offerings for the energy industry. He was also director of the Energy Group at CIT Group Inc. and vice president of Loan Syndications and structuring at FleetBoston Corp./Fleet Securities Inc.

Mr. Whitcombe earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University.

Alistair Clark, Director 

Alistair Clark - NY Green Bank Senior AssociateAlistair Clark is a Director at NY Green Bank on the Investment & Portfolio Management team, where he supports the origination, evaluation, and execution of scalable clean energy and efficiency project investments across New York State.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Clark worked as an associate within Jones Lang LaSalle’s Investment Banking/Debt Capital Markets team where he provided underwriting, market research, and materials production support for commercial real estate debt transactions including debt financings, loan sales, and loan restructurings. He participated in the advisory and closure of billions of dollars worth of performing and nonperforming commercial loan dispositions across all property types while working in every phase of the deal process.

He also worked for a Korea-based private equity and advisory firm focused on the clean energy space. During his MBA, he worked in London with Taylor-DeJongh, a private merchant bank specializing in energy and infrastructure project finance advisory. Before business school, he worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and also spent time in Hong Kong as a mergers and acquisitions intern for Quam Capital, a specialty finance firm focused on China.

In 2016, Mr. Clark was selected as a Carnegie New Leader by the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.  Mr. Clark is also a frequent speaker on industry issues and was an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College.

Mr. Clark holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Vanderbilt University, a master’s degree in international political economy and development from Fordham University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from IE Business School in Spain.

Amy McCartin, Director

Amy McCartin - NY Green Bank Vice PresidentAmy McCartin is a Director at NY Green Bank on the Investment & Portfolio Management team, working to expand financing markets for clean energy and energy efficiency investments by facilitating transactions with clients and partners.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Ms. McCartin spent six years working in capital markets origination at Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. Most recently within Citigroup, she worked on a team exclusively dedicated to alternative energy financings and assisted the development, approval and execution of various renewable energy transactions. With a focus on solar assets, she supported six residential rooftop pass-through leases and a precedent commercial and industrial distributed generation tax equity financing from initial structuring of proposals, through due diligence and legal negotiations, to successful closings. She is experienced in building financial models for potential structures and running investment analyses as well as analyzing tax and accounting impacts and extensively evaluating credit considerations. Ms. McCartin also spent three years at Citigroup working on the structured debt team, which included structuring a landmark project financing in both bank and bond markets for a utility scale wind farm.

Ms. McCartin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Michigan Ross School of Business with a concentration in finance and strategy.

Jason Moore, Director

Jason Moore - NY Green Bank Vice President

Jason Moore is a Director at NY Green Bank on the Investment & Portfolio Management team, where he works to accelerate the deployment of clean energy assets in New York by structuring and executing transactions for clients and business partners.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Moore helped renewable energy sponsors, developers, and investors meet their financial objectives as a consultant with the project finance advisory firm P50 Capital.  While at P50 Capital, he primarily structured and executed wind and solar project financings, acquisitions, and financial restructurings for clients in North America and Latin America.

Mr. Moore began his career in the securitization sector, spending time at BBVA Compass and Norddeutsche Landesbank.  He gained experience analyzing and structuring a broad range of asset securitizations including mortgages, trade receivables, and consumer credit and assisted with the funding and portfolio management of Sunbelt Funding Company and Hannover Funding Company.

Mr. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi State University with a concentration in banking and finance.  He also holds a master’s degree in finance from Boston College.

Colin Harris, Vice President

Colin Harris - NY Green Bank Senior AssociateMr. Harris supports the full range of day-to-day operational activities across the organization including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, strategy development and implementation, as well as risk and compliance.

Mr. Harris has been a consultant to various litigants concerning fraud, operational risk and due diligence practices in the hedge fund industry. He has also served as Vice President of Business Development for the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Previously, Mr. Harris worked in Environmental Markets with J.P. Morgan’s Global Commodities team executing sales and marketing strategies in carbon and REC markets within North America. He also consulted with the Oliver Wyman Group in their corporate and institutional banking practice specializing in hedge fund litigation and advisory, energy risk and operational risk management projects.

Mr. Harris graduated from Cornell University with an MBA in Capital Markets and Asset Management and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management.

Elizabeth Wolfe, Vice President

Elizabeth Wolfe, Vice President

As a member of NY Green Bank’s Operations & Finance team, Elizabeth Wolfe works closely with the investment and compliance teams to support NY Green Bank activities, focusing on key aspects of the portfolio management framework, including the investment funding process, amendment and waiver requests, and portfolio monitoring.

Ms. Wolfe previously served as Counsel & Director of Finance Programs for Energy Programs Consortium, a nonprofit organization.  In that capacity, Ms. Wolfe helped develop and oversee the Warehouse for Energy Efficiency Loans (WHEEL), provided technical assistance to state and local governments on Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECBs), and led research and analysis into Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), green municipal bonds, multifamily energy efficiency finance, and low and moderate income energy finance options.  Prior to that, Ms. Wolfe was an associate attorney at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York.  Ms. Wolfe is a member of the bar in New York and Washington, DC.

Ms. Wolfe graduated from the University of Chicago and Harvard Law School.

Sarah Davidson, Senior Associate

Sarah Davidson - NY Green Bank AssociateSarah Davidson is a Senior Associate at NY Green Bank where she provides investment, portfolio management, and operations support while focusing on communications and external affairs.

Prior to NY Green Bank, Ms. Davidson was a special assistant to Richard Kauffman, Chairman of Energy and Finance for the State of New York. She supported the Chairman in developing and implementing a strategic plan to scale up clean energy, enhance New York’s competitiveness for clean energy business, and make the State’s energy systems more resilient and reliable.

Ms. Davidson was previously the sales and business development coordinator for AGRION, a global network for energy and sustainability professionals. She was also a development associate for the Carbon War Room, an international nonprofit organization working to accelerate the adoption of business solutions that reduce emissions at gigaton scale and advance a low-carbon economy. She also served as a vice president at the Coalition for Green Capital, an advocacy group in Washington, DC, supporting tax and finance policies to expand investment opportunities in clean energy generation and energy efficiency.

Ms. Davidson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado College. She serves on the advisory boards of the Environmental Film Festival and the S.S. Columbia Project.

Tony Hack, Senior Associate

Tony Hack - Senior Associate

Tony Hack is a Senior Associate representing NY Green Bank on the Investment & Portfolio Management team, where he supports the origination, evaluation, and execution of clean energy investments.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Hack spent over two years at Starwood Energy Group, an energy infrastructure private equity firm.  At Starwood, he worked on acquisitions and asset management, and also supported the firm’s investor relations and fundraising activities.  With respect to acquisitions, Mr. Hack focused on large-scale power generation, primarily solar, wind and natural gas assets.  Mr. Hack started his career at Citigroup as a member of the firm’s Global Strategies & Initiatives team.  From there he transitioned to Citi’s investment bank.  As an analyst in the firm’s North American Power & Utilities group, Mr. Hack worked on a variety of conventional and renewable power generation transactions.

Mr. Hack holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Princeton University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University.

Niall Randles, Senior Associate

Niall Randles is a Senior Associate on NY Green Bank’s Operations & Finance team.  Mr. Randles provides support to all day-to-day business and operation activities, with a particular focus on the calculation, measuring, reporting and monitoring of the energy, environment and economic impact of NY Green Bank’s investment portfolio.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Randles worked as a senior design engineer for Honeywell Ltd. for seven years in Brisbane, Australia.  Projects he worked on included geothermal power generation, coal seam gas extraction and supply, alumina refining, and pharmaceuticals.  In these projects Mr. Randles interacted with various stakeholders - both internal and external - to ensure a successful project lifecycle execution.  Mr. Randles has devised project execution strategies, work flow processes, and internal systems, standards and databases to streamline operational effectiveness and efficiencies.  In addition, he has also successfully negotiated design contract scope and variations with end-users and third-party vendors, conducted large scale feasibility studies, and executed project tenders.  His professional career to date has spanned countries including Australia, New Zealand, India, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, and the US.

Mr. Randles graduated from Yale University with a Masters in Advanced Management, with a focus on Clean Energy Finance, Energy Technology Innovation and Energy Market Entrepreneurship.  Mr. Randles also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Ireland, and a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland.

Scott Kjorlien, Associate

Scott Kjorlien is an Associate on NY Green Bank’s Operations & Finance team, where he supports day-to-day business and operation activities, with a focus on process efficiency and data management.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Kjorlien worked with the New York Power Authority on the administrative team of New York State’s economic development power programs, where he introduced new analytic capabilities, and implemented process changes that led to more efficient management of the programs. While pursuing his graduate degree, Mr. Kjorlien supported the operations of Columbia’s Center on Global Energy Policy, leading a restructuring of their website database. Additionally, he assisted the vice president of kWh Analytics, a solar data analysis startup, where he performed market research in the clean energy finance sector.

Mr. Kjorlien holds a Master of Public Administration degree concentrating in environmental science and policy from Columbia University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Geography with a concentration in international affairs and cross-cultural studies from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Rodrigo Parra-Ferro, Associate

Rodrigo Parra-Ferro is an Associate on NY Green Bank's Investment & Portfolio Management team, where he supports the origination, evaluation, and execution of scalable clean energy and efficiency project investments across New York State.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, where he also interned while pursuing his master’s degree, Mr. Parra-Ferro contributed to the development of community solar and low-and-moderate income-focused initiatives as a member of NYSERDA’s NY-Sun team.  Mr. Parra-Ferro also consulted for a renewable energy project developer concentrating on the development of community-scale power generation and distribution systems in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa.  Additionally, he worked as a graduate teaching assistant for two energy finance courses offered at Columbia University.  

Mr. Parra-Ferro also possesses experience in the field of international development as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.  During his extended service in the Dominican Republic he directed income-generating coastal projects on a national scale and brokered an agreement between the Dominican Government and a top research university that advances business opportunities, sustainable tourism practices, and scientific research.

Mr. Parra-Ferro holds Master of International Affairs degree with a concentration in energy management and finance from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Florida.

Keely Conway, Analyst

Keely Conway - Analyst

Keely Conway is an Analyst representing NY Green Bank’s Operations & Finance team, where she helps manage external affairs, communications, and client services.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Ms. Conway interned for FreshDirect, an online grocer based in New York.  There she worked on the Merchandising and Marketing team, focusing on improving marketing strategies, analyzing research data, developing new promotion guidelines, managing the e-commerce platform, and streamlining the merchandising planning process across departments.  Previous to FreshDirect, Ms. Conway held internship positions in e-commerce, business development, and marketing for several apparel companies.

While at Trinity College, Ms. Conway served as Vice President and Risk Manager at St. Anthony Hall and performed in the Trinitones all-female a capella group.  Ms. Conway holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Classical Antiquity.

Parker Grayson, Analyst

Parker Grayson - Analyst

Parker Grayson is an Analyst representing NY Green Bank's Investment & Portfolio Management team supporting a variety of activities, including origination, transaction evaluation, due diligence, and execution of scalable clean energy projects throughout New York State.

Before joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Grayson worked as a Research Analyst for the Eastern Research Group, a government contractor located in Lexington, MA, that specializes in providing economic and environmental research for federal and state government agencies.  During his tenure at the firm, Mr. Grayson supported economic research used by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in litigation cases against oil shipping firms and developed models that quantified the financial costs of municipal solid waste collection across the U.S. for EPA publications. In addition, he assisted in the creation of cost-benefit models associated with changes to federal regulations governing unpaid medical leave, the minimum wage, and nonimmigrant visa programs.

Mr. Grayson holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Harvard University, with additional coursework in both economics and finance.

Maximilian Heering, Analyst

Maximilian Heering Maximilian Heering is an Analyst at NY Green Bank, where he supports the full range of investment activities, including transaction evaluation, due diligence and execution of scalable clean energy project investments across New York State.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank, Mr. Heering worked within Connecticut Green Bank’s finance team, providing support in underwriting and market research for secured debt financings and credit enhancements. He participated in every phase of the deal process working on projects including solar PV, anaerobic digesters and energy efficiency, including C-PACE, with a particular focus on solar equipment lease and multifamily housing transactions.

Mr. Heering previously worked for a Stamford, CT-based private equity and advisory firm focused on scalable cleantech and low-carbon solutions. Mr. Heering holds a BA in environmental studies from Colgate University with a minor in economics. He also spent time studying land conservation and corporate marketing management at Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, and rapid economic development and its environmental effects at Yunnan University in Kunming, China.

Celena Peng, Analyst

Celena Peng - NY Green Bank Analyst

Celena Peng is an Analyst on NY Green Bank’s Investment & Portfolio Management team, where she supports the full range of investment activities, including origination, evaluation and execution of scalable clean energy project investments across New York State.

Prior to joining NY Green Bank as a full time analyst, Ms. Peng interned with NY Green Bank in her junior year summer, providing support in investments and market research for business development.  She participated in several solar PV transactions, providing due diligence support through credit analysis and market research.  She also worked on a project database to identify NY Green Bank future outreach strategies and product offerings.  She previously interned with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, where she assisted with developing market performance reports and processing client inquires.

Ms. Peng holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research and Information Engineering from Cornell University with a minor in Business.

Jill Black, Office Manager

Jill BlackJill Black is the Office Manager at NY Green Bank, where she provides key administrative support to NY Green Bank staff and is responsible for the day-to-day efficient operation of the office, supporting all aspects of the business, as well as interacting with our colleagues, clients and partners on a variety of issues. 

Ms. Black brings a diverse background to the role, including extensive office management and administrative support experience, as well as experience as a costume designer, fashion stylist and editor. Ms. Black earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish/Latin American studies from Flagler College and holds an associate degree in fashion design from Parson’s School of Design.
